Back in Gwendalavir, Camille and Salim escape the attacks of Ts’liches thanks to the brave Edwin Till’Illan. He is astonished by the teenager, who manages to draw despite the Lock that affects everyone, and by the graphe sphere she possesses. He encourages her to meet a certain Master Duom in Al-Vor.

The two teens go there on a market day. Salim tries to stop a thief shadow-walker with extraordinary athletic skills. They encounter the guards Hans and Maniel, and reunite with the knight Bjorn. The group gradually comes together.
