Raia and Ani, both 12, live in the palace of Ramses II. Raia is the maid of Nefertari, the Pharaoh’s wife, while Ani is the assistant to a scribe. When screams echo through the banquet hall, they rush in. A royal cobra is poised before the Pharaoh!

With the help of Horus, Raia’s Abyssinian cat, they manage to neutralise the snake. Soon after, the queen herself is threatened. Who wants to harm Ramses II and Nefertari?

Raia and Ani begin their investigation. At the market, they question a snake charmer, owner of the royal cobra, who reveals he saw the thief. Shortly after, they identify the suspect and follow her along the banks of the Nile…
