Content : The famous story by L’Elan Vert, now in English!
“I’ve decided that I’m going to hunt deer. Nobody will stop me. Not even the cold. Beware animals crossing my sight!”
Our hero is determined to hunt deer. He comes across a wolf, then a lynx, then a bear... Nothing can stop him! The wild beasts, who thought they would just eat the child, end up with bumps on their faces! And suddenly, there is the deer! Our hunter adjusts his aim, he is ready but... here he is, shivering. What if instead of a leg of venison our hero made a friend? This colourful rambling tale is a delight with the changing expressions of its animals, first ready to attack, then all dazed or covered in bandages.
Written by Céline Claire and illustrated by Sébastien Chebret, this hugely successful album deserved its English edition! In fact, thanks to its status as a ‘teaching resource’, this rambling tale has been enjoyed by thousands of nursery school children for years!
The illustrations obviously support the story, and their simplicity makes them easy to read. They help children to decipher, recognise and reproduce the visual and bodily expressions of a wide range of emotions: determination, surprise, fear, disappointment, reflection, satisfaction...
About the author:
Céline Claire grew up surrounded by fir trees in the Vosges, and says she became a teacher so she could ‘continue having snowball fights with the children’ in winter. Did she hunt deer? And, if so, did she invite them into her classroom? Since she started writing, she has been hunting for stories. And it is fair to say that she catches a lot of them - for Gautier-Languereau, Les Deux Coqs d'Or, Bayard, Milan, Auzou... and for L’Elan Vert!
About the illustrator:
Sébastien Chebret is a great traveller, more attracted by the intense sunshine than the cold of the Far North. But he loves to draw everything: characters, animals... especially when he can give them a whole range of expressions.
