Content : 1835. Following the death of her mother, Rosa Bonheur persuaded her father, himself a painter, to take her on as a pupil, and later to enrol her in an art school where she was the only woman. From an early age, her passion for animals shone through in her work. Exceptionally gifted, she developed her art and, despite the constraints placed on her as a woman, attracted the attention of her teachers. Before long, they introduced her to a collector who purchased her first painting.
It was the beginning of an extraordinary career.
How would she succeed in asserting herself as a woman artist in a century dominated by men? How would she become a symbol of the animal cause?
The inspiring story of a true pioneer.
