Content : Lace on tied net is a technique mixing lace and embroidery. It is made in two main steps:
1 – The creation of the net (lace technique), that will be used as a support for the embroidery.
2 – Embroidery by using different stitches, some close to weaving, others giving relief to the creation, etc.
This technique was quite popular in interior decoration in 16th century in France, but due to new petrochemical techniques in textile and also to normalisation, it almost disappeared in the 70s.
