Content : A lovely story of friendship told in a colourful, delicate picture book.

Anisia has just left her grandmother and her village in Angola to come and live in France with her parents and little brother. Everything is so different here: there is even smoke coming out of her mouth when it is cold!
Her father goes out to work every day. He is the only one who speaks French. One evening, he comes home with a new dress for Anisia. She will be starting school. And she too will learn French.
Anisia makes friends with Mariette, who has straight blond hair like her doll. But one day, Anisia gets scared: her parents are talking about deportation, about being taken back to the border. Even if she does not understand everything, the little girl knows that something serious is going on. She does not hesitate to ask her teacher and her friend for help. An extraordinary wave of solidarity sweeps through the village: everyone rallies around to support them.

About the author:
Marion Durand is a journalist who has also served as mayor of her village in Burgundy, as a project manager and as an assistant to the cabinet, and is continuing her career in public life. At the same time, writing has never left her! One of her favourite themes is individual freedom, which is also found in the various albums she has written for Kilowatt’s ‘One Day Elsewhere’ collection. She is currently writing an adult novel.

About the illustrator:
Based in the South of France, close to Spain, Pauline Comis studied illustration at the École Estienne. In her studio, amidst a jumble of papers, paints and pencils of all kinds, she enjoys cultivating graphic accidents to create images that are poetic, funny and sometimes ferocious. A fan of drawing and collage, she creates highly original, poetic picture books published by L'Atelier du poisson soluble, Éditions du Ricochet and Tourbillon.
