Content : 1955, Segregation in the United States.
My father decided that we would settle down in Montgomery, at my grandmother’s. Blacks are
not better treated there but I will be safer. And my grandmother makes the best mashed red kidney beans in the neighborhood. In Montgomery, my father and I often took the bus to cross the city. Blacks sitting in the back, Whites in front. One day, before Christmas, a lady refused
to leave her place to a White man. She dared saying no to him. This was the beginning of a great protest.
